Medical Records

Medical Records Department:
An electronic medical record is a computerized version of your paper medical record. It delivers a more complete picture of your medical history, allowing your provider to make the best recommendations about your medical care. It also includes your health insurance information and how to contact you.
Advantages of an electronic medical record system:
- It is for your safety; in the past, the way a doctor obtained your health history was by asking you. Each time you visited a new doctor's office, you filled out forms about your history, including previous surgeries, or the drugs you take on a regular basis. If you forgot a piece of information, or if you didn't write it down because it seemed unimportant to you, then your doctor didn't have that piece of your medical puzzle to work with.
With this new system, your doctor can view your complete medical history on the computer, getting immediate access to your information.
- Complete recording:
Automatically the computer system cross-checks any investigations and procedures you perform in the hospital in either outpatient or inpatient department as the following;

- Saving time:
Electronic medical records may save time as well. Though faxing and email assisted one doctor to get information from another doctor or a laboratory, there was generally a wait time. When a doctor has instant access to all of a patient’s information, including things like radiology, lab tests, and information about prescriptions or allergies, he or she is empowered to act right away, thus saving time. This may be particularly helpful in emergency situations where a patient cannot answer questions about medical history due to extreme illness or injury.
Do I have to resubmit my information each time I visit?
You only need to provide your health information one time, after that all you need to do is verify that the information is up-to-date each time you see your health care provider.
Who will have access to my medical information?
The privacy of your medical information is strictly protected. Only medical providers and personnel involved in your care can access your medical record.
What if I need to take my medical record to another clinic or hospital?
Electronic medical records allow your doctors to immediately review and update your medical records in case of need. Information on your medical record may be printed for you to take to another hospital or medical provider.
