Infection control safety

Control of infection is an integral part of everyone’s life and it is particularly very important within healthcare settings. Preventing infection is a never – ending process within the hospital where new challenges and situations emerge every day.

Infection control permeates every aspect of our daily hospital operations; from evaluating products, to construction design and planning and facility waste management, monitoring disinfection and sterilization processes and patient care activities.

So,   it   is mandatory for each hospital to have an infection control program. Hospital infection control program represents now a significant investment for health care organization that implements it.

The program is important because we have an obligation to decease morbidity and mortality of our   patients   . It is essential to prevent infection outbreaks .Since   financial deficit control has become a crucial issue for many hospitals, strong infection control program can control expenses by stopping the financial hemorrhage that health care associated infections represent. Moreover, accreditation requirements demand also a strong infection control program.

From this concept Al Salama hospital established since inauguration an infection control committee and program which has many objectives like :-

  1. Surveillance of health care associated infections.
  2. Implementation of transmission based isolation precautions for infections that are virulent or communicable to prevent its transmission to health care workers or other patients
  3. Implementation   of  antibiotics  policy
  4. Implementation  of disinfectants use  policy
  5. Maintain good standard of cleanliness and hygiene in the hospital
  6. Employee health and blood exposure management
  7.  Ministry of health notification program for communicable diseases.
  8. Implementation of infection Control Guidelines in different departments and support service and other matters within the hospital which may influence infection control.
  9. medical waste disposal management
  10. Providing on-going education and training in infection prevention and control to all staff members

No doubt that many hospitals may have an infection control program but what makes Al Salama Hospital infection control program unique is being automated.

The use of system software in infection control program is saving time, effort and manpower .It allows us to avoid missing data and it is a risk handling tool for data analysis and record keeping.

For the best interest of Andalusia group these programs are now being implemented within the rest of the business units across the group with the help of the knowledge team in transferring the knowledge and experience across our business units.
